With it you can connect to WyldRyde and chat in many channels. You may also use it to run very simple to very complex scripts that can even allow you to setup mIRC as a full featured IRC Bot.
How To Setup mIRC for Windows:

NOTE: mIRC is NOT free, but WILL run after 30 days of use, if you have not registered your copy. It will just become nagware, meaning you’ll have to wait 30 seconds before you can click OK on the Registration Reminder when starting mIRC

  • Download and install mIRC
    mIRC is avaliable from http://mirc.com (or http://mirc.co.uk).

    1. Download the setup file and run it.
    2. Follow each step, but make sure you select ‘Full’ from the Choose Components part of the installation wizard, not Upgrade.
    3. ScreenshotmIRC will now install and then an icon will appear on your desktop; if you specified the setup to create an icon.
  • Configure mIRC
    1. When you first start mIRC, and get past the Registration Warning screen (just press Continue when that appears) the mIRC Options dialog will appear.
    2. Fill in your First Name, Email Address (you don’t have to provide one), a nickname you would like to use and an alternative nickname.

    3. Now we have to select WyldRyde as the server we want to connect to.
    4. Select ‘Servers’ from the Category Tree-menu on the left-hand side.
    5. Then scroll to and click on ‘WyldRyde‘ in the ‘IRC Servers’ list, then click Select.

    6. Now we can connect! Click ‘Connect’ in the mIRC Options dialog, under the ‘Connect’ option in the tree menu.

    7. The mIRC Favorites dialog will appear when you connect. This is pointless as none of the chatrooms/channels in that list are on WyldRyde. Untick ‘Pop up favorites on connect’ at the bottom of the dialog, and then click OK.

  • Registering your nickname and joining channels
    Well, you’ve made it! You’ve successfully connected to WyldRyde. Time to register your nickname, so no one else can use it! The nickname I’m using for this tutorial is ‘Tutorial1′, but you can use whatever you like, as long as it isn’t already registered. (You’ll be notified if it is already taken)
    So, to register your nickname type:
    /msg NickServ REGISTER password email
    Replace ‘password’ with a unique password and ‘email’ with your legitimate email address. Make the password difficult, but make sure you can remember it, as you will need to identify yourself every time you connect to WyldRyde.

    Now that you’ve got that out of the way, why not join a channel and start chatting? If you want to talk about a certain topic, or just hang out, it’s probably best to look at the channel list.
    To view the channel list, type the following and hit enter:
    /list
    The channel list will start to populate. Double click on any channel you wish to join, and you will enter that channel.

  • Reconnecting and Identifying
    Missing IRC and want to reconnect again? No problem!

    1. Start up mIRC again, and click either the Connect icon (Screenshot) in the toolbar, or click ‘Connect’ from the mIRC Options dialog, like we did earlier.
    2. Once you’ve connected, you’ll need to identify your nickname using the password we made during registration.
      To identify, type:
      /ns identify password
      Be SURE to replace ‘password’ with the unique password we created during registration

Note: You can set mIRC up to identify you automatically, and join channels when you have identified correctly, but there are posts on this forum to assist you with those things. Check out the related topics section below.

All Quassel users are encouraged to update their client immediately.

Well, looks like 0.3.0.2 was not the last 0.3.0 release after all. coekie found an issue with CTCP handling in Quassel Core that allows attackers to send arbitrary IRC messages on your behalf. This issue is present in all versions prior to 0.3.0.3 and Git older than October 26th (rev. d7a0381).
This has been fixed in the quassel-0.3.0.3 release and also in Git and the nightly builds. Gentoo and *buntu already ship the new version, with more distributions hopefully following ASAP. If you still use a 0.2-rc1 core, please consider updating to 0.3.x as soon as possible. Note that we provide unstable, but fixed packages for Debian now, thanks to dileX.
Note that this affects (only) the core, so you’ll need to update and restart your core. Clients are not affected. Also, this exploit can not be used to affect anything on your system, including your local account, as it is purely IRC related.

However, all KVIrc users are encouraged to upgrade as this update comes after published reports of a vulnerability that affected earlier versions.

As already said for the previous RC1, this is primarily a bugfix release. Our Development Team fixed a huge amount of noisy and glitching bugs, reaching a very high code maturity.
As its father, this release actually contains a preliminary Qt4 support
and if you feel brave you might test it by passing the “hidden” –enable-qt
switch at configure stage.

The update is primarily a security release, according to the mIRC web site.

mIRC users are advised to upgrade due to a security issue related to the use of very long nicknames on non-standard servers.
Several other small issues have also been fixed in this release.
Although this is a minor update, it includes important changes and all users are advised to upgrade.

Currently, Rooms is only up to version 0.5 and is understandably buggy and unstable at this point. According to reports, it’s missing quite a few key features and is unable to interact with NickServ or ChanServ. It also doesn’t recognize /me and other basic commands.
Hopefully the client will be further developed and these bugs and short comings will be fixed soon.
If you have an iPhone or iPod Touch and you’ve been hoping to IRC with it, give Rooms a try. It’s certainly worth the dollar despite the bugs.
