UK Police looses control of one of their own web sites

The UK police has accidently let the domain registration for their National High-Tech Crime Unit (NHTCU) website laspe. The domain name, nhtcu.org has been picked up by a domain name speculator, reports PC Pro.

British hacker to be extradited to US

A British man, Gary McKinnon, has lost his court battle fighting extradition and could be in the United States within weeks.

McKinnon faces up to 70 years if convicted for allegedly cracking Pentagon, NASA, and US Army and Navy computer systems in 2001 and 2002. The government alleges he caused $700,000 in damages.

wmIRC brings IRC to Windows Mobile

I don't personally understand why anyone would still want to use a Windows Mobile phone now that the iPhone 3G is on the streets but I was asked to find a decent IRC client for the platform.

wmIRC seems to fit the bill. While it only has the minimum set of functions it is fast and easier to use than other Windows Mobile IRC clients and also works on Smartphone and Pocket PC devices.

An IRC client for the iPhone debuts

The first IRC client for the iPhone/iPod Touch, Rooms, is now available for $0.99 cents in the iTunes Apps Store.

Currently, Rooms is only up to version 0.5 and is understandably buggy and unstable at this point. According to reports, it's missing quite a few key features and is unable to interact with NickServ or ChanServ. It also doesn't recognize /me and other basic commands.

Hopefully the client will be further developed and these bugs and short comings will be fixed soon.

If you have an iPhone or iPod Touch and you've been hoping to IRC with it, give Rooms a try. It's certainly worth the dollar despite the bugs.
