Hey. Someone I know has a channel on this server, and so I decide to go there. He has a Web Applet on his site, so I try that. I get the "java.net.ConnectException". I check, and I have the latest version of Java. I try connecting through mIRC, and still I can't connect.

Someone said it likely has something to do with my firewall on my router, but I checked and as far as I can tell I have port 6667 open.

Anyone else have any ideas or anything?

Hmm. I found I could connect by connecting directly to "daedalus.WyldRyde.org" instead of just "IRC.WyldRyde.org". I have no idea why.

I'd kinda like an answer to this question too o.o

See, I get that same problem using my java client, as does another user (whom I am going to make admin, so he kind of needs to be able to get on)....

I can connect using mIRC, and he hasn't tried using an IRC client yet. But what is the problem? Why is it not letting us connect? How can we fix this?

I'm very sorry you're having difficulties and that I didn't notice your posts until now.

That java error usually indicates that java needs to be updated or reinstalled. But since your IRC client isn't working it could be one of two things.

1) Your ISP or a firewall is blocking IRC ports. See if you can connect to intrepid.WyldRyde.org just to make sure IRC is accessible.
2) Your IRC client is using WyldRyde's old address and not IRC.WyldRyde.ORG. Again, give intrepid.WyldRyde.org a try.

the problem is that my java thing isn't working. It loads, but it doesn't connect, and gives me the "java.net.ConnectException" problem. And....I updated java, yet it still won't connect.

using mIRC works fine for me. I could be fine just using that. But I have others who are having problems, and don't want to use an IRC client....

I'm going to double check everything on our end.

Could you please provide a link to the page with the web chat. Also which web browser are you using?

I can't get the java client to load, nor can another person who is trying to use it. I use Firefox, he uses IE, and we both have the same problem.

When I use IRC, it takes several tries to connect....I think the problem is that I can't connect to the server, because it works when I use IRC to connect to Daedalus. I tried to edit the java client to connect to Daedalus....but that didn't help at all.

It works for everyone else but me and this other person, though.

I can't find any problems on our end and your web chat works for me. You might try clearing your browser's cache and rebooting. Java sometimes just likes to act up.

Yeah....it has to be some network setting, since I can get it to work using any network other than the one I was using before.
