Hey everyone. I was just wondering, what are your favorite platforms to write an IRC bot in? I am partial to PHP, and have been working with it for a while now, and I really do like it. I have tried things like TCL (eggdrop), and Python, and I feel that PHP is better to work with.

I LOVE PHP!

This is just one man's opinion, so I'd like to hear yours. What platform do you use to write your bot? For example, if its PHP... what framework? smile

Thanks Much!

-Sam

<3 mIRC bots. SOEASY to script laugh

I've tried PHP and eggdrop, litttttleeee too tricky for me, as I'm a n00b, and mIRC just runs quietly in the background on another PC, and gets good uptime smile Also, scripts are really easy to find, make, customise and use! laugh

<?php echo 'PHP FTW!'; ?>

Hehehe...

I've used many bot platforms, and have loved PHP the most. I like mIRC, however, as it is versatile, too, but PHP wins it for me. I've also messed with Eggdrops, but NEVER LIKED THEM.

All the best,

Sam

I have 9 eggdrops online currently plus I know very little about php ;/ So I'm partial to eggdrops. I've heard a lot about the versatility of php bots. I'd like to look into them. Do you have a good link to get me started Sam Ferry?

We wrote an IRC bot framework in PHP once, we left it alone for awhile to work on other projects. Now we are looking more towards Ruby for it's syntax.
