Hello, I seem to have lost voice because of rick rolling. I was not informed that you were not allowed to do this as I thought it was a part of IRC life. Is there any way I could get voice back? Any help is much appreciated.

The Same Thing happened to me I was on Linux and i posted a rick roll link half an hour or so maby more i then switched back to XP and withing 10 mins of logging on and opening chat without saying anything i got this "* You were kicked from #Chris by blaster (Rick Rolling is NOT permitted (562))"


When was this rule brought in?

The voice i am not so bothered about its more the fact i was kicked for a rule i didnt know exsisted nor was a warned =/

Rick rolling is annoying to say the least. As ops we have to monitor the posting of all the links in #chris for inappropriate stuff. Rick rolling is boring and tiresome. Telling the same joke a million times takes the lol out of it.

You will get your voice back when you can act responsibly in #chris

Neither of you are new users to #Chris, & both should have known better that to post those links. You got kicked for that, & the bot automaticly removes your +v for being kicked. I know you will both remember not to post RickRoll links, & will soon earn your voices back.

as i was on a liveCD i do not have the logs but i beleive i posted a rickroll youtube link once a youtube Journey Link twice maby 3 times and a rickroll redirect once =/

over the combined time of about 45mins mabye slightly more


may i also add i have been kicked for posting a rickroll in the past when ChirsPirillo Told us too and also when Adam Pirillo ASKED for the link

I still do not know why you kicked me without warning, this seems to be a new rule that I did not know about, if you could give me some answers I will leave you alone.

In my judgement you posted an inappropriate link. I have the choice of actions to take, I chose to kick you.

So, we are supposed to check every single YouTube link that gets posted in #chris? That would hinder our Op/Mod duties. Plus, if one youtube link happens to be a "Rick Roll", we just immediatley kick that person? No warning them first? To be honest, this seem to have turned into a personal thing. If I was to act like this, there would be a certain someone that would get kicked out of the room every day, but I'm above that and follow what was told to me by Kat, Steve, and several others: warn warn kick. If really bad, then ban. This to me is going to get out of control and it needs to stop.

Just to point this out, I do think they should get their voice back... blaster, I'm pretty sure you can't just decide that "Oh! Thats an inappropriate link! I should Kick him!" Unless thats a new rule too...

Actually, yes he CAN do that. It is common knowledge amongst ALL members (including all of you) that inappropriate links are not allowed. Links are to be kept to things ON topic, such as tech talk... and to anything of Chris'. Random posting of "funny" YouTube vids and stuff has always been discouraged.

It is up to the h/ops what is deemed inappropriate. It always has been, and always will be.
