I'm a new Mac user and am presently trying to find a good IRC client. I am looking at Linkinus but I can't seem to figure out how to hide join/part messages (if it is possible). Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I haven't found a way to do that and I'm too very unhappy with the state of IRC Clients for the Mac. I've been running Windows in Parallels just to use mIRC.

Its the fact that they want so charge you $$$$ for it.

OK. I paid the $20 for linkinus. I saw it VERY easy to part a channel. Just type /part (whatever you want goes here) . Just like XChat or mIRC.

iPhone, he means he wants the joins/parts to not show when they happen. EX:

Zack join #Zack
Zack parted #Zack

Colloquy is my favorite IRC client for mac. It has a very easy UI and works great!

yeah but it lags at some times, and it has like 5 bad scripts. At least Linkinus has some really cool scripts. I bought it for $20, and I don't regret it. I doubt I'll ever go back to colloquy.

I don't like Colloquy very much. I haven't found it to be very customisable. Maybe I will give Linkinus a try, but the state of OS X IRC clients are very depressing. They look nicer than mIRC, but they lack features.

Update: Linkinus looks pretty slick. We'll see how that goes.

I use colloquy, I like it and it meets my needs. It has some add-on plugins and themes from their website. However since it's come up, I'm downloading a trial to see what is like.

no Colloquy is the WORST Mac IRC Client. You get notices through Growl which means you cant see them again, horrible add-ons that no one really wants, and its VERY hard to cut-paste logs. yeah it may have a log feature, but its hard to copy and paste them when needed. Linkinus isnt the best IRC client, but it is for the Mac

I'm getting some problems with colloquy not responding at times and crashing. I'm thinking about switching, iPhone is this one of the reasons you switched?
