Since ZoneLabs has released a new version of ZoneAlarm, some visitors of my website are complaining the chat is blocked by ZoneAlarm.
It says the following when they join the chat:



Does anyone here know a solution for this, or should I contact ZoneLabs?

There is no fix for it on our end. ZoneAlarm is falsely blocking many things for no reason. You could try contacting them but it'll probably fall on death ears. Their business model relies on Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt.

I always explain to anyone using ZoneAlarm that they're better off using the Windows Firewall than paying for ZoneAlarm. The only extra level of "protection" that ZoneAlarm adds is outbound filtering HOWEVER, since most modern malware specifically looks for it and then disables ZoneAlarm this protection is a complete fallacy. Since its not adding any protection and is constantly bugging you by warning you of things you don't need to worry about (just to create the perception that its protecting you) and also since it constantly blocking benign things its just not worth all the aggravation.

You're much better off using a hardware router (as it acts a firewall) and it cannot be disabled by malware infections (if you turn off UPnP.)
