What is WyldRyde's AMSG and AME Policy?
/amsg and /ame should be used very sparingly, especially if you're in more than a two channels.
Several channel ops and other users have asked if they could, or could WyldRyde staff, ban people that send /amsg and /ame needlessly.
Channel founders and ops "run" their channels the way they see fit, so a channel may establish a policy that prohibits /amsg and /ame messages if they see a need to. For example #BestTechie, #Chris, #Help, #Lockergnome, #Mandy, #Politics, #Photography, and others don't permit them and could channel ban anyone refusing to stop using them. However, WyldRyde's Staff won't place network bans on anyone using /amsg or /ame except in cases when the content of the message otherwise violates the WyldRyde IRC Network Terms of Service.
If you are in many channels, and have been using /amsg to say goodbye before quitting, please take into consideration that it bothers a lot of people because it lights up every channel. /amsg and /ame should not be used for this purpose. Please put your goodbyes in your quit message e.g. "/quit going to sleep, g'night."
If you want everyone to know what you're doing you could sign up for a free Twitter account and get your friends to "follow you". By the way, WyldRyde also has a #Twitter channel if you should need any help signing up for or using Twitter.
