Online Predators Looking Beyond Internet Chat

Some child predators are start to catch on that chat rooms are being monitored by law enforcement with increasing frequency and are starting to look for new ways to continue to meet children and solicit them for sex.

On Microsoft's XBox Live, young children are being exposed to very sexual conversations and some have allegedly been solicited for sex. There also has been isolated reports that children were allegedly exposed to live video of men exposing themselves and performing sexual acts over the service.

Parents are encouraged to discuss online safety with their children and explain that the same precautions that they should be taking while on the internet also apply while playing on XBox Live. Children shouldn't use their real name, share their age, where they go to school, or where they live. Parents should also closely supervise their children while they are using XBox Live and should immediately report to law enforcement any person that acts improperly.
