Can I get a vHost?
A vHost is a custom hostmask domain name that other users will see when you join a channel on WyldRyde or when someone uses whois on your nick.
For example, if you're usually nick!default@privatehost-6941C073.ipt.aol.com and you choose starfleet.mil, your host would appear as nick!default@starfleet.vhost.
We offer free vHosts subject to the following conditions and restrictions:
- To request a vHost you must be a known WyldRyde user and have had a registered nick for at least 30 days.
- Please blog about your favorite channels on WyldRyde and provide a visible link to "WyldRyde IRC Network" within the blog post or if you founded a channel on WyldRyde add the WyldRyde Chat Script to your web site.
- vHosts must be for a valid domain name you own or are authorized to use OR must end with .vhost.
- We will not approve vHosts that may confuse users into falsely believing you are a government agent or an employee of a company. vHosts may not indicate or imply you are an IRC network staff member or affiliated with any IRC network.
- All vHosts are subject to the WyldRyde IRC Network Terms Of Service and they are provided at the sole discretion of the WyldRyde Staff.
- vHosts may not link to or be obscene, lewd, sexually offensive or include hate speech, insults, or epithets directed against any race, religion, ethnic origin, gender or sexual preference.
- You may not use a vHost to evade a ban.
- vHosts may not be changed more often than once every six months.
Once you have chosen your vHost and blogged about WyldRyde please join #vHosts to request it.
Note: Free vHost may only be used on WyldRyde.
