Is it safe to click on a link I saw in a channel or got in a PM?

Its very unwise to click on links that are posted by people you don't know and trust. NEVER CLICK ON ANY LINK THAT IS SPAMMED!!!
When you click on spammed links you:
1) Only encourage spammers to spam more.
2) You can possibly infect your computer with something nasty.
3) You tell spammers that this network is a good network to spam on.

If you visit a specially crafted web page, or even what appears to be a link to an image (for example: http://www.example.com/nakedgirl.jpg), with any version of Internet Explorer and even some other browsers you can get infected with a virus.

These unpatched vulnerabilities are often abused on IRC by other infected users who unknowingly message porn or warez URL's to channels, or to users onjoin.

If someone messages or notices you an URL please don't click on the link! Our antispam bot will probably kill them shortly after you see the link, if not, please join #help and let us know the user's nick. Please do not post the URL to our channel as you might get automatically killed.
