Does the #help channel have additional rules?

Yes, #help, the WyldRyde IRC Network official support channel, has its own rules in addition to the Network's Terms of Service.

The #help channel rules are as follows:

  1. Address your question to the channel, not a specific individual:
There is almost always WyldRyde staff members online and available to assist users requiring assistance. Please don't address your question to a specific staff member because they might be busy. Instead just ask your question in the channel and someone who is free will be glad to help you.

  2. Stay on topic:
The #help channel is provided to get assistance on using WyldRyde and to receive basic tech support only. Please make idle conversation and discuss all other topics in other channels. Please also see: I go to #help and no-one helps me!

  3. Don't repeat:
You are not allowed to repeat yourself. If you don't get any attention, all the staff must be busy. Do not repeat your question UNLESS another op has joined the room and in that instance you may address the question to them. If it's an emergency you may also say "oper" to get the staff's attention.

  4. Don't flood:
Flooding/spamming the channel is not tolerated and is grounds for an immediate ban.

  5. Don't be impolite:
Any sexually explicit language or impolite behavior will not be tolerated. Personal attacks are grounds for an immediate ban.

  6. Don't use caps lock:
You are not allowed to type with only capital letters. Please turn off caps-lock before talking in the channel.

  7. Don't send private messages or notices:
Do not send private messages to the channel operators or other users unless they ask you to.

  8. Don't use /amsg or /ame:
Use of /amsg or /ame are not permitted under any circumstance.

  9. Don't paste improper chat:
If you witnessed something that violates the network Terms of Service and wish to report it to the staff do not copy and paste this chat. Simply summarize what is happening and where. The Staff will then respond to that channel and take appropriate action. (WyldRyde's staff will only kill or ban users for rule violations they seen first hand.)

  10. Don't always expect action or help:
It's our policy that each channel is responsible for it's own operation. That means we do not get involved in how a channel is operated. Please also see: I go to #help and no-one helps me!
