WyldRyde Lives!

As you may or may have not noticed, the AlphaChat team has recently taken over WyldRyde. Since Jeff and the other staff no longer have enough time to administer WyldRyde, we will be doing so. Of course, this will bring about changes. However, we very much so believe these changes will benefit the network greatly. WyldRyde is an active network again, accepting new users and channel registrations. Many other changes will also occur, especially regarding modernizing the network and bringing it up to current IRC standards. Here is a quick rundown of our plans:

  • Modernize WyldRyde by switching to InspIRCd ShadowIRCd and Atheme services. This will add a modern edge to the network that is not found in the current setup, including many new and useful features. Most importantly, this will help with securing the network even more so than it already is. In depth information about ShadowIRCd can be found here. You can also find in depth information about Atheme services here. Don’t panic! Things will be very similar and staff will be able to assist you if you need any help with the new software.
  • Increase server capacity by introducing new servers in North America, Europe, Australia, and Africa. We believe in giving everyone the ability to chat on our network with as little latency as possible. Sufficient capacity and international reach is important to us, as much as it is to you!
  • Link with the AlphaChat IRC network. WyldRyde will be linking with AlphaChat, which is co-owned by Matthew (known as matthew1 on WyldRyde), nimrod, sysErroR, and I. We are extremely excited about this and a few staff members on the AlphaChat team are old WyldRyde users. This means more people to talk to, better support if help is needed, and various additional other perks. You can read more about the AlphaChat IRC network here.

We will do our best to stay true to WyldRyde’s original goals while also doing our best to modernize and improve the network with as little issues as possible. We thank you for choosing WyldRyde and for sticking around. We are here now and will be here for many more years to come!

Thanks,
Joseph F. (Joah)
